The Wind Ensemble is the flagship ensemble of the Morton West High School Band Program, made up of approximately 35 dedicated sophomore, junior, and senior musicians. This advanced group performs a diverse and challenging repertoire, including classic wind band masterworks, contemporary compositions, and innovative new pieces specifically written for wind ensemble.

As a premier ensemble, the Wind Ensemble is committed to musical excellence, with a focus on advanced techniques, ensemble cohesion, and expressive performance. Students in this group engage with sophisticated music that challenges their individual skills while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and artistry in a large ensemble setting.

In addition to performing at concerts and festivals, the Wind Ensemble champions new works for wind band, providing students with opportunities to be part of the evolving landscape of wind music. Membership is by audition, and students are expected to demonstrate a high level of proficiency on their instrument, as well as a commitment to the ensemble’s artistic growth.
